NPL-3: Bangladesh's cricketer Shamim Hossain to play from Limbini Lions
Kathmandu, Oct 24: Bangladeshi cricketer Shamim Hossain Patwary will be playing for Lumbini Lions in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Lumbini on Friday announced that they have signed him.
"Shamim Hossain has officially become a member of the Lions team. Now it's time to respond on the field through his game," the Lumbini Lions wrote on their Facebook page.
He is a left-handed batsman and off-spin bowler known for his aggressive playing style and sharp fielding. Shamim has been a successful player since U-19 cricket. He was part of the Bangladesh team that won the ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa in 2020.
After winning the World Cup, he got a chance to secure a spot in the national team as well. Shamim made his T20 International cricket debut against Zimbabwe in July 2021. That same year, he was also included in the Bangladeshi squad for the T20 World Cup.
Shamim made his debut in One Day International cricket in 2023 against Afghanistan. He has played for teams like Chattogram Challengers, Rangpur Riders, and Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and scored 352 runs for Chittagong Kings in the 2024–25 edition.
He has not played in any foreign leagues so far. Shamim is now preparing to achieve that milestone through the NPL. The third edition of the NPL is set to start on October 26.
