Bagmati, Nov 2: A king cobra was safely rescued from a grocery store in Bhorle, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–15. The nearly 11-foot-long venomous snake was found in a drawer at local resident Mahendra Dong's shop.
Snake rescuers Rajesh Thapa 'Garib' and Roshan Thapa 'Deep' managed to safely rescue the serpent after about half an hour of effort.
After a snake was seen in the shop's drawer, local ward member Singha Bahadur informed rescuers Rajesh and Roshan, and they managed to safely take the king cobra into control.
Rajesh said that the locals had poured petrol to try to drive the snake away, which created additional challenges for the rescue. According to him, after the locals tried to drive away the snake producing smoke and poured petrol, the snake became aggressive, so they had to take special care to safely control it.
He pointed out that using petrol or diesel to kill a snake is risky and urged people not to do it, saying that even a normally calm snake can attack if it feels threatened.
The king cobra that was rescued with the help of locals was safely released into the forest away from human settlements, the rescuer Roshan said.
He mentioned that they have rescued king cobra 16 times so far from various places in Makawanpurgadhi, Bakaiya, and Bagmati rural municipalities, including Hetauda.
Earlier, during the 14th rescue, Roshan mentioned that the king cobra had bitten him at the border area between Bakaiya and Bagmati rural municipalities.
